What do I need for a trainer position?

What training does OCCK provide to new employees?

  • As you begin your career with OCCK you will be provided extensive classroom and on the job training.
  • As you continue your career with OCCK, additional traning opportunities will be offered

Do I need to be a Certified Nursing Assistant?

  • No. OCCK is not a medical facility. While some duties may be similar, the focus is on promoting independence not care-taking.

Is a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required?

  • No, we only require having a valid Kansas driver’s license.
  • Based on your job assignment, you mayl be required to obtain CDL with passenger endorsement within 8 months. This is required to enhance driver safety and because staff may have to drive a high-rise van, depending on assignments. Training and resources are provided to prepare for the CDL.

What is the entry wage for a Trainer?

  • All trainers start at $10 per hour.
  • Hours between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and all weekend hours are paid an additional $0.50 per hour.

What hours are available?

  • There are a variety of shifts available including full-time (40 hours per week), part-time (10-39 hours per week), and substitute (as-needed-basis).
  • For many staff, OCCK is their primary full-time employer. Some staff work schedules allow them to balance other commitments, such as family, school, or other employment. Depending on service needs, we may be able to develop a schedule to fit your needs or desires.

How many OCCK customers would I work with?

  • Depends on the setting and the needs of the customer. You may work one-on-one with a customer or with several people.

What is the work environment like?

  • Everyday is different. It can be challenging and exciting as you work with and support people as they work toward their goals.
