Services we offer to Individuals

 Self-Advocacy:  teaching people the skills needed to effect change in their own lives.

 Individual Advocacy:  action on behalf of an individual to assure their civil rights are being protected.

 Information and Referral:  information about what is available in the community and referral to those services and resources in the community. 

Independent Living Skills Training:  training to gain skills in areas such as money management, cooking, nutrition, finding housing, and any other area of need. 

Peer Counseling:  counseling, teaching, information giving, and similar kinds of contact provided by other individuals with disabilities.

 People with Traumatic Brain Injury:  specialized service coordination, and independent living skills training and supports in household management, social adjustment, problem solving, and communicating. 

Self-Directed Personal Assistant Payroll Services:  People seeking to hire personal assistants may use Independent Connection payroll service.  Also available is information on hiring, scheduling, training, supervising and firing personal assistants. 

Services we offer to Our Communities

 Community and System Advocacy:  efforts to implement local policy and legislation to make facilities, services and opportunities available to individuals with disabilities.

 Accessibility Information:  staff knowledgeable on structural, program and service accessibility standards consult with individuals, businesses, services, schools and government agencies regarding the accessibility of their buildings and services.  We provide information about all components of the American’s with Disabilities Act.

 Community Education:  presentations available on request for civic groups, businesses or individuals with information about how to communicate, accommodate and serve people in wide varieties of situations, such as medical services, education and law enforcement.
