Independent Connection

Independent Connection® works with people of all ages and disabilities to locate services and eliminate physical and philosophical barriers so living independently is a reality for all.
CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING – The term “center for independent living” means a consumer-controlled, community-based, cross-disability, non-residential private non-profit agency that is designed and operated within a local community by individuals with disabilities and provides an array of independent living services
Our staff has had years of experience connecting people to the right resources in their community. We have developed a resource manual that is updated regularly to ensure people will be connected to the right entity or program.
We understand that young people with disabilities are often left out of social activities and sometimes believe that people do not listen to them. We have a youth program that is organized and operated by young people with a disability who want to be treated as if they did not have a disability.
We know how hard it is for people with disabilities to participate in activities in the community and build natural friendships. We offer several social activities that make it easier for friendships to be built.
Our staff know about all the programs that are available that will allow you to live in your home. They will assist with creating a safety plan that will allow you to be safe once you get home. They are available for all questions you may have about leaving a nursing home.
We can help you develop the skills needed to find and keep employment.
We have years of experience working with businesses to become accessible. We can also provide information on tax incentives that a business will qualify for after changes are completed.
As a payroll agent we take the stress off you. We run all payroll checks, deduct taxes, and distribute the check and teach you about directing your services.
Centers for Independent Living are unique to all other service agencies because the majority of the staff are people with disabilities. We have created a system that is simple, you call and we come to your home. Paper work is simple. You choose how much involvement we have.
Independent Connection serves nine Kansas counties: Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Ottawa, Republic, and Saline.
