Our Employment Consultants work with people with disabilities to find employment. NCKWS provides employment related services to businesses and individuals at no cost. In addition to helping job seekers with disabilities, NCKWS has developed local Business Advisory Councils (BAC) throughout the nine county region. We currently have active BAC's in Abilene, Beloit, Concordia, and Salina. The role of the council is to create a link between the businesses needing work completed and the sources of supply for labor. Find out more about Business Advisory Councils.
Because of our values around employment, OCCK initiated employment services through North Central Kansas Workforce Solutions (NCKWS). The focus of these services is two-fold; to work with people with disabilities to assist them to be successful in employment and to work with local businesses to help meet their labor needs.
Gainful employment is one of the most effective ways of enhancing self-reliance, changing attitudes, reducing dependency on public benefits, and promoting community acceptance of people with disabilities. When people with disabilities are employed, they pay taxes, buy goods and services, and support their community. Work gives people purpose, self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment and pride. People should have every opportunity to pursue careers, participate in the workforce, and engage actively in the economic marketplace.
