Independent Connection
Peer Counseling
Do you have questions about your disability?
Would you like to connect with other people with similar disabilities?
One of the most unique features of an independent living center is that the majority of board members and staff have disabilities. The philosophy found in independent living centers leads to the belief that people with disabilities, merely need information, resources, and support to determine the direction you want your life to take. Peer counseling is people with disabilities reaching out to other people with disabilities to share experiences, strengths, and to listen.
